You're not wrong Dan. They're starting to build nicely. Hopefully, things will start to cool down soon.

Been raining non-stop moderate/heavy for the last 75 minutes. Will be checking the gauge as soon as it stops raining. Looks like it could potentially be another wet night for the rainycoast!

61mm from the SE change convergence taking today's total to a very surprising 83.5mms! grin

Hi All
Just got home from a little drive up to Tarome at the top end of the Warrill valley. High flood at the top end of the valley but virtually no rain 5 minutes drive away. Tarome gauge itself only got 5mm. We had nary a drop. I'll post some pics I took shortly of the huge logs that have been thrown up onto the bridges by the force of the water. The water is arriving here at Kalbar already after only 5 and a half hours and it is roaring at speed, presumably because there is no downstream water to slow it down. I guess that will mean lower heights here but it could still reach moderate flood height. If it goes over the main bridge at the weir which is completely hidden til you are right on it then no-one will have a clue because there has been no rain here. I am usually the BOMs greatest defender but anyone who took even a casual glance at the radar this afternoon would have realised that a flood was brewing in our valley. Not even a hint of a warning. The roads and bridges I have just visited certainly suggest one was warranted. I just tried to phone them but the machine says no-one is home. Oh well, I'll cut them some slack. They are probably exhausted from all this checking of flood heights in the west. As I suggested earlier, just watch the gauge at the Kalbar Weir. It is zooming right now.
Keep safe
Neil

Here's a couple of pics from my drive tonight. This water all came from only a very small portion of the total catchment upstream of Kalbar. It doesn't bear contemplating how much water there would have been if the whole valley had got the rain today.

See ya
Neil

It has been pouring here for the past 1.5 hour. The raining is so intense that it has made me get up out of bed and check the relevant sites. Not sure how much has fallen yet, can be bothered to check and get a wet bum. I never thought I'd say this. I want the rain to stop.

Sleep is needed.

Aghghahgh! I hate doing flood gates! Neil, just got off the phone from our neighbour, how does 68mm in an hour and three quarter sound?! Gap Creek, Babcock Creek, Warrill Creek all with very significant rises as you can see by the plot below:

Our neighbours reported that a car body that pretty much never gets touched by floods has now found its way about 700m downstream and is stuck by the Warrill Creek causeway at Tarome. Anywayz, time to do some work here before, playing fence repair tomorrow or on the weekend...

Thanks zxabc4.. first time seeing this stuff and my mouth happens to be open.
That kind of action isn't intimated to the layman over free-to-air TV.

Really surprised to see these totals around, I've had 12mm all up, 10mm of that falling overnight!
Wouldn't mind some of these showers, they look bloody good on radar compared to the drizzle fest we've had all month!

Looks like I've had about 50mm or so in Buderim since yesterday afternoon (35mm or so last night and another 15mm today). Will confirm tomorrow night when I get up there but that should push my March total pretty close to 400mm.

Don't be too hard on yourself. A fool you are not. Possibly 2 cyclones forming in the next couple of days one near Fiji and the other which you have spotted near Vanuatu. Some discussion in the forum here http://forum.weatherzone.com.au/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=494493&nt=191&page=190

Cape Moreton just picked up a 106km/h gust (at 11:03pm as it will reset soon at midnight)...also reflected pretty well in tonights sounding, with a 40kt SE at 950 and a 45kt SE at 925hpa.

Also nice coverage and forecast on the Warrill Ck action last night Neil!
