Indeed!
Its true there are other places on the planet colder than Melbourne. But who would want to live in the UK with its dark depressing weather.
But out of all the cities in Australia, Melbourne is by far the most dismal. 1/2 the rainfall of Sydney, but as many or more rainy days. Sure when its sunny its real bright n glary but then again melbourne is sun glasses country whether is summer or winter.
Sure today was fine but we almost got blown down Chapel street & up Commercial road (as usual)
LOL

"melbourne is the windy city " - the Chicago of down under? LOL
Forgot to say the only good thing about the wind in Melbounre is that it blows away
1- the pollution from Melbournians 1st obsession - car driving
2 the hot air churned out of Melbournians 2nd obsession air conditioning!!!
LOL

The front could have at least brought something nice during it's visit today, like maybe some rain???

Does anyone else with long hair find the wind around here really annoying, because it messes with your hairstyle?! I had Flight of the Valkyries playing in my head every time I walked outside today. wink

yeah Melbourne have very dismal weather. got some damn melbourne stratus again, bloody hell one can't go a day without Melbourne stratus here and a cold front mad Brisbane had 14mm of rain and the temp still didn't drop below 20. my jealousy toward SEQ has reached boiling point. Might have to move there later on.

My bitch for the day.. this melbourne type drizzle, and barely 5mm in the gauge here yet drops of 120mm + north of Brisbane.

Take your wx back down there and bring on the heating for a 3rd day of monster hail!

Whiteman like duck of of water in warm hot climate, get sunburn and bad for complexion. Whiteman vistors should live where suited.

I suggest people pull out some stats on the following Major cities and see how Melbourne stacks up. Try New York, Chicago, London, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, Montreal, Berlin, San Fransisco, Madrid. Someone please post the results inl average Sunshine per month, Min, Max averages, Rainfall etc.. I look forward to the results.

Hi all,
Love this thread! I recently moved from the Whitsundays to Tasmania. I do NOT miss QLD summer's one bit. Last year was oppresively hot for weeks on end, I'm originally from Cairns too so the heat shouldn't be too bad for me, but as I said last year was nasty and the heat and humidity really knocks you about. Very little in the way of decent storms either. Fast forward to now and I cannot get over how awesome Tassie weather is, we had snow falling on Mt Wellington last week STILL. The day it snowed here to sea level you could really tell I was a Q'lander running around outside like a fruit-cake amazed at the 'white stuff'. Would quietly like a few more storms now to get the lightning photography opportunities.
Bit of a change with the rainfall levels though, going from Cairns where that monsoon season is phenomenal to Hobart that averages around 600mm. Chuckle to myself when people say 'it's pouring rain'.

So not really a whinge but my two cents, hope you all don't mind!

well, a mere 18c today but felt much warmer confused was sunny so was good.

yeah last year by now we had days above 30c, and a 40c in Mildura eek but the summer that followed was a load of rubbish. So, this time round we have what seems to be a slow and steady warming trend, with much less wild fuctuations in temps so it could be a more consistant warm summer, lets hope so.
