Jack. What's your budget? This is probably one of the most important points to consider because prices vary a lot. If you want a fairly good one such as Davis, Lacrosse etc you would be looking at $500+. I was sent a couple of articles which review some of the weather stations. PM me you email address and I can send them through.

I have a WS1081 which isn't an expensive one (~$100). Yeah the more expensive models are obviously better but I just wanted an inexpensive model to begin with. I'll invest in one the other models down the track. However, one of the articles states the WS1081 stands up pretty well against some of the more expensive ones.

There's also been stacks of threads already on this topic so you would probably find plenty of advice if you do a search. wink

well it's not hard to tell when mundane boring weather is
happening up there, who needs weather charts, just check
the wz s.a. forum, the lack of posts is absolutely radiant.
'bout the same as what's happening down here but on a lesser
scale.
nothing to report capt'n stoobing, steady as she goes.

stand to attention soldier! This is south australia soldier!! Of course there is nothing to report, all defcons cancelled indefinitely. As if they ever needed activating. Now stand down soldier, Cap'n Stoobing has spoken and must go shave his moustachio.

Hey Chrisso, the hills have been particularly photogenic this year for some reason. Nice shot mate. nothing as persistent in the area I travelled through, it lifted early. Still the light was speccy and crystal cut, the air cool and the ground moist...

Had this scene bookmarked for years with the right sunrise it will rock! Still looked okay today I reckon smile

lol HR, i imagine you as more of a capt'n mannering or maybe
even a parmenter.
looks like there's no end in sight of the green drought that's
gripped the s.e. albeit for a bit of light scattered rainfall here
and there to keep things damp and the wolves in their cage.

Should be a solid block of high pressure for a week to week and a half before the LWT pushes up more fronts. Pretty consistent with June which does have these enormous highs from time to time followed by a barrage of cold air and showers. But a solid start for most people, the sunny days will help crops sprout nicely. But watch for some frost, could be some really cold mornings coming up.

TS cool

June is always a mixed bag here. Last year saw us 32mm above average, but the 3 years prior we were well below and 4 years prior to that, close on average.

Well done! Knew you would know it, its your home area. No cheating really??? wink

Prize is an SMS compliment to be delivered as soon as I can find my phone. A momentous keepsake to show your grandchildren. smile

Perhaps Blackadder Thunda? You could play Baldrick with a cunning plan wink ha ha! Timmy E could be Lord Percy ha ha ha ha ha. Who wants to be the queen ho ho ha haho ho. I get to choose "Bob" wink

June is a mixed bag for me too. One extreme or the other, usually defined by a single weather event moreso than a series. last 2 years have been steaming [censored]. Average for last 8 years is 130mm, highest 235mm. lowest 39. (last 8 years). July is the peaky month for me with only one relative failure in a decade. From August its in decline. Wet and dry. Frontal systems? What's that? Not funny.

While were relaxing with boring as bat poop weather NSW is getting bollocked by ball tearing storms that i dare say TH is practically drooling over *mops up the drool* maybe its time we deactivated our forcefields and allow some storms to hammer the whole of SA

yer RS that twister was a ripper(no pun intended), certainly
made trash out of that trailer park, some first class footage
was had by lots of people with camcorders handy, maybe that's
why they're called handycams. now if that was had anywhere in
s.a. but here i'd be spewin'.
you'll have to talk to WG about forcefields, being s.a.'s self
appointed forcefield monitor he's soley responsible for everywhere
else getting storms and the s.e. none. probably like BTWC amongst
others he secretly likes to see me squirm.

As Adelaides self appointed forcefield monitor, i can only say that i don't have the switch and i cannot turn if off. I can however give forewarning of any breaches that make it through the forcefield. This forcefield i'm talking about is only for the Adelaide metro area and plains. Unfortunately the south east is behind the forcefield and suffers forcefield itus (the splash over effect of being behind the forcefield where weather systems havn't had time to regenerate after being ripped apart).

As for TH squirming,,,, "yesss we likes it,,, don'ts we my precious" (quote from the lord of the rings movie). I'll admit getting a kick out of the continuous verbal drizzle from the south east..... it entertains me. smile
Oh and i beleive TIM internally squirms every time the forcefield is mentioned and it may drive him nuts!! ..... forcefield!!! smile (he has also told me he ignores it, but we all know better it drives him crazy and he'd like to see the word deleted from the weatherzones forums) wink

COooooold outside, a brisk 5.2 degrees no wind. But this means another sunshiny brilliant picture perfect day to work / rest or play whatever you guys are all doing.

yer right, like all the storms you get and still nothin'
down here, your forcefield is only a sporadic aberration
of the spasmodic extension of the one that permanantly
grips here.
the only forcefield that's tougher, meaner and more
unrelenting than the one that grips the s.e. is the one
that encircles HR, and that's only due to his flatulence.
maybe the upcoming evisceration can cure him. wink

fine, cold snitchy mornings interjected by a mill of rain
