No CF that just means Mission Beach.

The cells that are on the radar, are they there or is it a trick of the Cairns AP radar?

Frogs started croaking, something must be on the way grin.

Radar down for 72 hours, wow smile

And no, it's not a trick, very dark and gloomy here ATM, no thunder yet though.

Is the radar really down? It seemed to be running at 3am this morning at work - but I hear the rain although the radar says its clear!

Any ideas on how long it will last? And very jealous of Sydneys Storms! Grr

It's down for 3 days according to BoM. The airport one is up but pretty useless as it is showing rain on the sth side and I can assure you there is none.

Townsville's radar shows circulation to their nth east thismorning. No doubt anything out there will be torn to shreads but it is there nonetheless. Perhaps it is the disturbance EC have been modelling?

The airport radar over rates rainfall making it look like a huge rain event when in fact it is more light to moderate falls.

Will be attending a conference on Fitzroy Island for the next few days and looking forward to it. Last time i was on Fitzroy we all got evacuated due to high rainfall and the possibility of a cyclone. Have heard through the grape vine that Oprah will be staying on Fitzroy when she comes over in December.

Is it worth just looking at Townsvilles radar for the next few days, or is the Cairns Airport still reliable enough??

^_^ Yay, the Perth tour for the play I'm involved in has been postponed for a month or 2, so I'll be able to enjoy a bit of the wet season grin.

A tour of a theatre play grin. >_> It's been in development for about 2 years now and has seen many delays. Though I'm not upset about this delay, considering I'll get to experience a la nina wet season ^_^.

Sounds very dramatic!! Hehe! Meh, on my way to work - got the night shift - 2200 till 0800 - and so much more fun if I had some rain and radar to watch! Instead... just potter round the office all night or even watch a dvd! I am a support worker so hopefully all my clients are in bed!! grin

Your clients are in bed? That's a bit sus.

poke

BoM are persisting with moderate to heavy falls lacally by Friday but the models aren't so convinced. Cola is showing some patchy falls to out sth but it is an improvement on what they were showing last night.

We'll know come Friday I guess.

Any idea if the radars are fixed yet? That rain storm yesterday morning at 6am; I followed with the Airport radar - that one seems to be spot on - but other one in Cairns is not accurate. Have they got people working on it now? Os is this a problem we have to learn to live with?

My lord it is warm - almost 30 and its just past 9am! Yesterday I noticed at 6pm it was still 27 or so!
