Hate this weather.. there are virtually no winds at almost all levels of the atmosphere.. for at least the next 3 days as well. 5-10kt at most. Not looking good for storms either..

Townsville temp trace in. Like yesterday steering winds not too good but upper trough is close by so that might provide stimulus. At least there is a deeper E/NE flow in lower levels compared to yesterday ,and temp about 32/33 needed to kick things off...

Hmm current temp at Rasmussen weather is 33.9C at my place it is closer to 36C and it feels like it too. Damn it's warmish and the humdity is hovering at 48 to 50% which will only climb higher as the day progresses.

Just took a quick run out to Rangewood for a computer repair and the whole place is as green as ever i have seen it. Not suprising considering the rainfalls we have been getting. Interesting cloud formations out towards the west. Starting to pile up nicely. Could be in for some more action tonight I think.

As I've written on the convective outlook in our site, we should see bulk of early activity on Harvey's Range (already happened) and now we should start seeing a lot of activity developing in SE Flinders district Southern inland Burdekin area as per higher TT values and more supportive upper atmosphere later in the day. Still no steering winds as Adam and RWM mentioned, but we do have more lower level moisture inland today and therefore things should fire up nicely in that area. Very much pulse thunderstorms but if you sit on the edge of the dry spot in the mid levels (around the Towers) you should see some great lightning activity while those pulse storms last.

All up though just a tiny chance of Townsville picking up a storm today - the steering flow is just too weak

Thanks for that update.

It's looks like Townsville is going to run into a lots of storms & possibly to locally heavy rain falls rain during all of this week it looks like by what you said there. smile wink

Again for the Townsville area there is a very good chance as well during the rest the week and into the weekend there is a good high chance we may run into some more Severe thunderstorms just some things to keep a watch on for the Townsville area.

As well here a Another update the Monsoon is set to fire up as of next week.

They just said on the Townsville win TV loacl weather it is on high at the moment.

Hi this is trav and the boys. We are currently at the mingela range hoping to get some lightning shots on this nice little pulse storm near ravenswood. We are hoping that the outflow from this storm will enchance storm activity close to the charters towers area.

Oh and to everyone who keeps up to date on our website, we have just installed a live webcam into the Car. So now everyone at home can keep up to date with our storm and cyclone chases. The live webcam will be awesome for our next cyclone chase. Its gonna be epic. We wont be live streaming tonight, however next chase we will be.
