edit: There should be just as many tomorrow night, as the 14th and 15th are considered the peak of the meteor shower. So I really hope there'll be a little less cloud cover ... ( with that I just created a super storm that will cause major flooding in cairns ).

Thank you very much. Will see how we go tonight. Thanks again.

Out of the blue late last night we got 55.5mm, and another downpour this morning has our 24 hour total to 76.7mm. Nice.

Some of these rain cells are very small though. Was at a function on the south end of town yesterday afternoon and it poured down, there would have been a minimum of 20mm, yet on the northern edge we didn't get a drop. Must be hard to forecast the expected rain totals when the rain is not widespread.

The frogs are really going off in the creek - just watched a tree snake working it's way across the grass to join in the breakfast party!

Out of all that I only got 2mm. Most of those cells missed this area completely, but it's okay... there was a gap in the clouds around 1:00am so I got to see a few meteors streak through the sky grin.

Sorry Afroboy...did not watch TV. But it sure feels like we could be in for a bumper season.
No rain last night in the valley, but stinking hot today. Temp 32.5C, but heat index 41.9C !

Took this little pano leaving Smithfield heading just before Barron River Bridge. View towards Whitfield Range on the left and Redlynch/Crystal Cascades.

I saw some awesome storm structure down in the valley last night just before it was too dark, too bad it didn't produce anything.

Great shot Crystal, good to see one of your many talents making it into the forum. In regards to your earlier post i gave up on the website due to computer issues/crashes lost information etc. Cyclone was kind enough to offer his time to assist me in getting my webpage up and running though i was unable to work the software "weatherdisplay" very well at all.

We managed 46mm over night till 9am this morning and i emptied the gauge an hour ago which had evaporated some of the water in the top funnel. The Davis WX measured 50.8mm for the same period.

grin That's a very nice photo Jesse24. It reminds me of a scene from Spirited away... though I don't suppose you've seen that film.

Could be an interesting night with rain bands still coming in from the ocean... then again I still hope nothing eventuates as I do wish to see some more meteors poke.

Jesse that is one heck of an image. The sea is like glass smile Bet it was hot though.
I saw that cloud formation north of us. Not sure where you were, but it sure looked like it.

Great photos Crystal and Jesse24. I took a photo as well (nowhere near as nice though). The straight lines in the clouds which are in your photo Jesse24 looked great. What causes the cloud to do that?
