@weather junky... I have one, but I find it unreliable... mostly because the only flat surface (for the rain gauge) I have around my house is on the fence; which is far away from the weather station.

Plus, I enjoy running outside when it's raining to check the gauge... more exciting poke.

We all enjoy running around in the rain once in awhile. Is it wireless. As mine is and i have made a flat place on the roof for it to sit on. It lived on the roof of my car for awhile . Nearly forgot it afew times.

Yeah mine is wireless, but it says in the manual that it needs to be a fair distance away from trees or anything that'll block it from rain. Unfortunately the only flat spots are under trees XD.

Also... I'm loving that mass of cloud that's covering most of the far north on the sat image. Might go for a drive tomorrow if this keeps up. I'm interested to see how Crystal Cascades is.

Edit: Just checked the rain gauge... 78mm since 11:00am grin.

Yes. Unless they are a media event of course! wink Cyclones do not form over land; they require ocean SST 26C+.

Does anyone know if the council will be conducting a cyclone cleanup? Not keen on forking out the $$ for a trailer load of debris to the tip.

Cairns could still get a drenching from the system moving from the GOC. Looks good for a bit more action on the rain front anyway. crazy
