I can see a couple of anvils to my west atm from those pulse storms over the ranges.
Nice to be getting some summer weather finally, I'm off to the beach for a swim.

Hoping for some storms and precip on sunday, Lawn is next to dead actual it is dead!!

Well if you open the oven door, leave it turned off and make sure the room temperature is the same as outside then you are not exaggerating. poke

What would you roast at 37 degrees in an oven?

The back end of that storm still looks ok from here Storm Hunter. You still might get some action.

Not much doing with those cells in the Hunter....
I headed out for a look, and am inbetween Maitland and Singleton.
Just a bit of a mess right now...
Certainly nothing worth photographing...at this stage anyway.

If you put it like that, I would be exaggerating.

But try opening the oven door after it has been on, feel the blast of hot air that comes out, and you sort of get the idea of what I am getting at.

Geez, 37C, how are you going to survive that? Those sort of temperatures kill most people outright. Stay safe everyone.

The funny thing is, when it was 45C in Melbourne one day in January 2009, I actually went out at 1pm, got lunch, walked around for a bit then came back inside. Then at around 4:20pm in the heat of the day I walked about 2km from Nth Melbourne to Southern Cross station.

It was crazy heat and certainly wasn't comfortable by any stretch, but guess what, I survived it, didn't pass out or anything. shocked 37C is pretty tame I would of thought.

Would *have* thought. Not would *of* thought.

How nice that you enjoy heat. And isn't it annoying when other people feel differently?

Interestingly, three days into a heatwave (that's three days above 35c, to be precise), the death rates suddenly shoot up.
We had a very interesting talk about this from an ANU epidemiologist at the Canberra meeting of the Severe Weather Association some months back.

Evidently some people react differently to heat.

Sunday
Sunny morning. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms about the Blue Mountains from midday, extending throughout in the afternoon and evening. Winds northwest to southwesterly averaging 10 to 20 km/h becoming light by early evening. Overnight temperatures falling to around 18 with daytime temperatures reaching 30 to 35.

might well be too dry for any storms saturday david, sunday and especially monday look promising. Storm development looks to be restricted in the east by cloud cover associated with SE winds and in the west by a likely dryline - hopefully there will be a sweet spot in between. the last 2-3 days have shown good consistency from GFS for this setup, fingers crossed it holds and we'll be up there.

I prefer the heat ANT, I hate winter and it does not affect me adversely that much. I was in Narrandera at the time they had the Bushfires in Junee and boy was that hot when it was 47C ... I nearly died "hypathetically"...

Agreed @ Lizzie smile

I do like heat, but when it starts to hit 45 + it really does become a little too unsettled. Unless you are in a place that is airconditioned, or within a cold area such as a indoor pool it's just a nightmare to deal with.

I do enjoy 45degree days when we get them!!! The furnace like heat feels awesome! I still remember the New Years Day event a few years back when even coastal districts got to 45-46c! Me and Lightning Chaser were surfing Shellharbour that day, it was 45c and we still had wetsuits on to protect from the blistering sun. The water was lovely though, and the waves very fun( thanks to a punchy east swell and blistering w/nw l'y !!! The run to the surf was painful though.I wish we had one of those days every summer.

Today was warm but quite humid. Max of 28c with dewpoints hovering in the 20-21c range. The air is alot drier inland with dps in the single figures west of the ranges. Canberra only reached 34c today, down on the forecasted maximum of 35c,see CW its not all bad.
