Cell/storm/heavy showers sitting over Maroochydore airport. We have been getting heavy showers for the last half an hour

Barely used WZ Silver so far this month, hasn't really been anything worth logging in further than the basic display. Other than the decent t'storm on the 3rd, it's been pretty boring. Well I suppose, nice but boring. Low to mid twenties, fine and sunny could pretty much sum up the last fortnight or so.
Today is our 15th day without rain, which is our equal longest dry spell since July 23rd to August 6th last year.

Last year, May did have a dry spell of 20 days (May 1st to May 20th), then the next month over 600mm fell!

Access G and EC agree with this system turning into a monster Low developing off the East Coast off Aus and heading towards NZ.....fair way out but I hope it's something worth watching.

Another stunning day. Really like the warmth of the May sun, it's thoroughly pleasant for any activity.

Noticed yesterday that the Kalanchoe (a.k.a. Lavender Scallops) have decided it's a good time to start flowering. They are meant to flower in late winter / early spring. I suppose the dry, consistently mild/warm weather of late has coaxed them into flowering.

Temp drop of 5 degs here in 30 mins. ( 24 to 19 ). Heavy shower passed to our north right through Cleveland, just light rain here..

I can feel the temperature drop here in St Lucia, but it's probably not as drastic as 5 degrees.

Today was picture-perfect. Taken near sunset this evening, from Trial Bay Gaol, looking NNW towards the Nambucca/Bellingen region (Coffs Harbour is on the extreme far right in the distance, you can see the lights there on a clear night):

Below was the OCF forecast for Stanthorpe which I'd saved earlier this week and where I've circled the more notable max temps in red. Its forecast max temps haven't changed that much for Fri/Sat since then, just a degree or two milder than previous runs:

Some amazingly cold temps atm for large areas of QLD e.g. Roma's currently only 10.5C as at 2:30pm with an Apparent Temp of only 8.9C and Mt Isa was only 13.9C at 11:30am with an Apparent Temp of 7.1C.

Latest EC is showing a even more significant rain event for the majority of Eastern Australia later next week.

Haven't looked at GFS but yeah EC looks generally unstable especially late next week as another broad upper trough moves across.
