To the casual observer, you probably wouldn't have even known a "cold" front had moved through overnight. Today was mild (21ºC) and once again sunny, even though it was breezy at times, that wind still had a bit of warmth to it. I'm think I'm gonna say it..... Winter 2012 is over in this part of NSW (now I've said that, this Sept will be the coldest on record because Mother Nature is a rather spiteful lady ).

I can see where you're coming from, we still get those cool nights well into September, even the odd cold frosty night through the hinterland in Sept.
The days now are almost consistently mild, occasionally warm (here, mild 20-22 deg temps are now popping up more frequently than cool 17-19 deg temps). Also in the evenings, the temp doesn't seem to become "cool" as quick, compared to say 2-3 weeks ago. No need to be so pedantic about the 4:30-4:45pm window-closing routine. Quite small differences. Personally, I find myself tipping the scales in favour of Spring in the earliest of her stages. Hasn't been too many overly cold nights though this winter, we've only needed the heater on about eight times (couple of nights during mid-June's ECL, a couple of nights in July, and once this month during last Friday night, well until the power dropped out, lol). I'm quite close to the coast though, so it is probably different for those more than a kilometre away from the coastline during the night at this time of year.

There's another chance of extensive fog around the sheltered low-lying parts of SE QLD overnight or tomorrow morning... but mainly those areas where there isn't too much cloud. There's also a chance fog could last well into the morning in some coastal or lower parts... & I wouldn't be surprised if there was also a bit of sea fog near the Hervey Bay area (due to the warm moist northerly airflow traveling over the cool SST's there atm). Here's my fog probability map generated from GFS model data for tonight/Thu morning:

wow looks like inland areas could get some violent storms this afternoon particularly around Moree with LI's of -9, which is pretty insane for this time of year, ill be watching the radar for sure. SEQ is still looking good for friday!

Nice James! Yeah some nice timelapse footage of stratus lowering to fog over Archerfield this morning too: http://webcams.bsch.au.com/timelapse.htm...=archerfield_nwhttp://webcams.bsch.au.com/timelapse.htm...=archerfield_neThe cloud clearance soon after sunrise also looks spectacular. EC and some other models bring the squall line currently sweeping across inland southern QLD in towards SE QLD by early tomorrow morning (between around 5am & 9am'ish) but start to weaken it as it approaches so bit hard to say if it'll survive the trip here with much intensity. I think there's a 2nd but lower chance of some isolated showers or storms tomorrow arvo ahead of the change proper... but appears most of these might be confined to some near coastal/elevated & northern parts of SEQ (if any) where dew points are a tad higher.

Models including EC (but far less so with GFS) are suggesting some reasonable instability sagging down towards northern coastal parts of SE QLD overnight Sun through Mon associated with a NW-SE oriented sharpening mid to upper trough axis across the south with some reasonable shear... and ahead of a bit of a SSE'ly burst (per EC). GFS is a lot less keen.

Bit of instability being thrown around by GFS in NE NSW on Thursday (30th) as a trough visits the region. Still early days I guess, but lower level moisture appears that it could be a problem for coastal parts. North West Slopes (e.g. Tamworth/Barraba) look better, and that region could probably pencil in a few storms on Thursday.

Suprized its pretty quiet up in here even B.O.M have gone for storms down there today. Hey Antonio id say its a chance in northern N.S.W thisarvo =0 We have a lifted index of around - 1 and a weak trough even though temps are low the uppers are cold enough and the cape is weak and breakable, combine that with the winds turning onshore thisafternoon it should be enough of a moisture boost to hopefully trigger something, So i might sneak down there later on =)
