What weather? :p Nah seriously though, just had a very brief light shower about an hour or two ago, other then that everything is so dry. Not even as the trough pushed north did it bring anything in the way of storms this afternoon. I miss the rain. Adam

Yeah Adam, copped a couple of showers down this neck of the woods also.. one after midnight and another about an hour or so later.. something must have told me to wake up and close the windows on the car (with 5 minutes to spare.) Saw heaps of shooting stars on my 9pm mealbreak earlier

I read with interest the lowest caloundra (sunshine coast) rainfall for feb was 12.4. This Feb was 12.4. Lowest for March was 14.3 this March so far 16.6 (thanks to 8 on tuesday). It is shaping up to a dry and warm Autum/Winter. Lets hope we have some Off Fraser low,s soon or it is really going to be a dry argument.

Interesting David, I heard something similar although we had a touch more here. March isn't off to the greatest start is it.
My rainfall data for Marcus/Peregian Beach
February
03/02/2005 9am 21.2mm 07/02/2005 9am 8.5mm 15/02/2005 9am 4.2mm
Total: 33.9mm
March
01/03/2005 9am 3.0mm 13/03/2005 9am 4.5mm 14/03/2005 9am 1.2mm 15/03/2005 9am 8.5mm 16/03/2005 9am 1.5mm
Running Total: 18.7mm
Bring on the rain! Hopefully the system arriving tommorow/night will make for some decent falls.

Fingers crossed everyone that this system opens up and delviers at leaste 25mm od rain to the SE coasts districts .....>> our last reasonable drop was on the 27th and 28th of January (7weeks ago) with 11 and 13mm respectivly. With only An isolated 10mm shower in Febuary the grass is well and truly dead and the trees and plants are realy starting to stress.....considering the agerage for Feb was 200mm and for March is 100mm. If you include 30mm short in January we are 300mm or 1 foot of rain short..... . In the past 3 years of realy studying weather I have noticed the extreems are constantly being broken and new records being set. WHATS THE CAUSE???? Globle warming, Al Nino, or general weather pattern changes? Its not that we dont get Rain or Drought its the way we get it...>> 300mm at one time to cause floods and or no rain for months to be a drought....interesting!!! >>>One of the best sunrise pans i have caught yet was taken today>>> Click for bigger image. Jeff.

Nice pic Jeff. Well after seeing on the TV last night we were in for rain today I checked the BOM radar this morning when I got to work to see how long before they arrived. Of course nothing on the radar so checked the forecast(fine). Just like ever other day. So I won't hold my breath for this system to bring much tomorrow and even less on Saturday

Already had 4.5mm here overnight, very promising looking up and down the coast too. Current BOM Sunny Coast Forecast SUNSHINE COAST Cloudy. Showers at first. Rain and local thunder developing. Light to moderate NE winds. Maximum ... 28 UV INDEX - 10 [Very High] Saturday ... Rain periods clearing MAX 27 Shouldn't get too excited but that looks like rain

Having said those rain storms are going se. I run a warehouse and because I had stuff outside, I look to the se to see if it is going to rain, as that is where our rain comes from. So if those storms come from the nw I will be caught short all day.

You're right the morning stuff is pretty prone to staying out at sea, heading southeast with the steering WNW to NNW wind. So far BOM is spot on though, should be NNE by afternoon. I'm a total novice when it comes to looking at forecast models but to me Saturday afternoon looks more favourable for the SE storm wise.
Photo, that was taken from my extended backyard (Marcus/North Peregian) about 6am.

I probably know less than you Jake, but I am not confident looking at the radar. The BOM's forecast keeps changing as well. On the synoptic map the blue line has dissapeared, and the only rain is still drifting in from the nw

Well no rain out of that so the dry argument continues.
Sorry Jeff, didn't notice, just got excited about a chance to talk about se qld weather.
Guess that's the end of this thread, for me anyway.
