Very steamy 28 here. Low cloud is breaking up.High cloud thinning a bit. Towers piling into the high cloud way to the SW.

Looking at the radar a big line of storms is developing and will march to the coast. And looks like a bigger event coming for the NR than the last one. Get ready Kyogle!

all well and good, but eth GFS hasn't been updated since 18z (0830-9.30am) run on the 4th... that was yesterday. I imagine it could change a lot in 24hrs given the complexity of the systems.

Bodie said on Monday i think it was? that its down due to a power outage at the main server located in Mackay - they mustn't have been able to get it back online yet, so we will have to be patient in the meantime :-)

ALthough, I like my theory that QUeensland will be washed away and thus the world (as we know it) will end... smile

Thank god that the first big blob is staying south of us, would be interesting to see what sort of rain figures they are getting out of it as it looks pretty intence.
Also would like to say that my thoughts are with all the people affected by the current round of floods, keep your chin up.

Latest Access 3 day is now out and shows big falls right across NE NSW in next 24 hours. Towards +72 is shows that Coral Sea trough moving towards the coast - if that is the case we would see it come ashore at around +96 and bring some more big rains to the same are, moving inland and further S as well...

18Z is GMT time - we are 12 hours ahead so although we're on the 5th the date stamp is still the 4th...So if you think roughly 12 hours ahead 18Z would be 6pm UK time on the 4th = 6am Australian time on the 5th...so the current GFS run is NOT 24 hours old, it is the current one.

EDIT: Should note there is a little more to it than that, but as a rough rule of thumb it'll do the job for you :-)

the national lightning tracker looks sweet with storms streathching south of sydney up to the gulf of carpontaria, not bad, some intense looking cells on the brissy radar showing up now, very slow moving,

Looking at the latest GFS coming out (00Z) All the models really look like they are starting to come together with a Strong S/SE change starting sweep up the coast NE NSW coast early tomorrow morning and progressing through SEQ during Thursday. Combining this with our unstable mid - upper atmosphere and kaboom i think we will be in for a treat or mabye not so much with all the recent rains we have had.

Cracks of thunder and visible streaks to my N-NW right now. It's getting really black out here!

Also not to mention the Showers/Storms that may make there way into SEQ this afternoon and night before the main action starting late tonight for coastal NE NSW and progressing to SEQ throughout the early morning and day.

Ouch!!!
That much rain is definately going to hurt areas already suffering from too much rain. ALso a word of waring to anyone who might be affected by these rains - insurance companies (some not all) distinguish between flooding from rain that falls in a 24hr period, and flooding from rivers..... you aren't always covered for the latter
