Keep us posted on the Toowoomba stuff guys - it's not going to be pretty with so much rain in such a short period of time (with such saturated catchments).

The heaviest rain fell to the NE of Toowoomba too, so a bit concerned about the effects there right now also.

Can't believe the Bureau didn't issue additional warnings for the area despite seeing such a huge massive rainy storm blob heading for the area...

I reckon BOM will have do some explaining there-why wasn't an appropriate warning issued-sounds like serious stuff is happening up there atm. I hope no-one lives were lost!

Been oblivious to whats happening in Gympie cause of being separated on the west side of the Mary river, did a search on google and OMG! 169 pic's came up and updating all the time, and the river level is expected to rise 20m plus tonight.

THE GYMPIE TIMES PIC's

Look out for a large green shipping container. It was last seen in Toowoomba floating past the bacon factory. No kidding!

No mention of the Toowoomba floods on the local teeny boop station (100.7 CFM) but I guess news isn't in their target market.

Hi I am another newbie stalking this thread for the past couple of weeks - keen to hear more about Toowoomba, nothing on news.com.au yet...very surprised BOM did not issue a separate SSW for that cell - very nasty on radar!!!

It's a woman and boy. they are hanging onto to a pole. Apparently there are dozens of rescues going on according to ABC news

I think the stuff on the radar off Moreton Island is higher based stuff in decaying mode, which the radar is overestimating the intensity of, and is moving more N-S due to the different direction of the higher level winds. My gut feel is that it might not even make the coast at all. The blob due east of Tewantin looks pretty serious, but I think it might be like 6 hours before it hits the coast and who knows what shape it will be in by then.

It seems that the shower activity over land is gradually thickening up and to me is the best bet for more rain in the next few hours.

I suppose if you were watching a 747 coming in at 30km/hr with no landing gear from 150km away, you might warn the people on the ground to bring their hoses! Heads should roll for those actively employed by un aware taxpayers sitting on their hands today. attrocious!

612 ABC Brisbane NOT covering Toowoomba floods, you will need to catch the online stream if you aren't in the local area and want to listen to it.

Edit: By the way I am thinking similarly Mike when looking at the radar...that blob due E of Tewantin on the 256 is the one to watch for after dark tonight.
