[quote=nocturnal1]What's causing the showers to regenerate in a line over the northern rivers/sq? From about Canungra to Mullumbimby on the radar, showers don't seem to move on (pretty light though) but rather keep sustaining themselves ...anyone? [/

Its the ranges behind mullum creating lift. Over the otherside in Nimbin we have been in a rainshadow all day , Only 5mm.

i do TEND to agree bodie... however you have to remember there hasn't been any significant falls in that area for the last few hours... which is now changing...

And they have upped the re,ease rate significantly. I tend to think that your right though Bodie. Without any further significant falls the dam is unlikely to hit 74m.

However the higher release rate combined with whats happenhing downstream will be enough to cause some problems. I tend to think the 3m forecast for the city guage is going to be fairly accurate maybe a fraction underdone. Perhaps somehwere between 3 and 3.5m.

I don't think so. Someone mentioned earlier the release rate has been increased to about 220,000 megalitres a day. This is nearly double what it was yesterday.

Or twice as much as when we went and visited on Saturday.

Amazing line of rain on the Gympie radar, have a look and see what I mean, such a thin but elongated ribbon.

I dont know if its been mentionsed. But chinchilla has had up to 150mm since lunch time today. Keep an eye on Charleys Ck as its the one that passes through town. Currently at 4.00m. The flood a couple of weeks ago got to 7.25m

After a quiet few hours here, the rain has started again and I have just cracked the 50mm mark for today. There is a fair amount of local lightning just to the north too. http://www.bellmereweather.net/lightning.asp

not a good sign.

So you're downstream of Gatton right? How much elevation have you got there at Lockrose?

Ah... thanks. smile I'm slightly too far east to get these showers, hardly had anything today as well.

:edit: some crazy pics! esp. the one of Toowoomba Range.

There are still falls into the Wivenhoe tonight, small at moment under 10mm in the last hour, but still occuring.

Bremer falls would be worse, still uncertainty about what is coming down the Lockyer.

Just as a matter of interest, a good friend of mine has just told me he's been commissioned by the Lockyer Shire Council to survey the flood situation and/or damage from the air ASAP. Providing there are some breaks in the cloud tomorrow he'll be in the air during the morning. I'm shattered that I have to go back to work otherwise I'd be asking if I could tag along. At the very least I'm hoping to be able to get a few photos from him and post them - nothing shows flood waters like an ariel overview.

Been showering here pretty constant for a while, nothing real heavy but some showers are chunky, wind is extremely gusty..WV loop still looks very impressive..

Just received an automatic SMS warning from the SES - significant heavy rainfall over the next 4 hours, people in low lying areas are advised to move to higher ground.

I'm on the border of the Lockyer Valley and Somerset Region.
