I was just looking at the updated and 10 day forecast and the first day for the new Season looks like being at least 26 degrees for Hobart. And I was just starting to get excited that Summer had ended , in recent years March has really been almost warmer than January at times.

Yes PVW, should of been on the move this May but the job has hit a snag and they do not need me until the end of the year. So there will be a couple of months commuting but should be all tucked up in Sunny Launceston by the end of January.

Looking forward to some cooler weather and much more bearable summers. Can't wait for ours to end in NQ, it has tortured me for months now, as you well know.

Logistically it is a massive move as i have pets as well, and one too old to fly, but I think it should be worth it. Looking forward to it. The way things are going we will have enough Qlders down there for a state of origin trip if its held in Melbourne again.

Hi Slippery & PVW , great to hear more Queenslanders are about to arrive. We always make to Origin when it comes to Melbourne , always a top week over there. And of course Melbourne is Queensland's second home and that's why the NSWRL hate playing there. They think we get a home team advantage .
Very balmy here in the Bart tonight still sitting on 19c.

Hello H - I hear ya!!!

Here we are in the last week of summer and this week will be close to out hottest of the season - like you SICK OF IT!!

Also like you I dread Summer every year and whinge about it's coming. However I just try and put up with it, otherwise I will go mental!!

I keep looking at the long term models and see big cold pulses not far south of you and wish I was there. Long term GFS has a couple of interesting possibilities but too far away to bank on.

Fingers crossed a large field of cold air will be much closer to you around the 10th March. It's a LONG way out in model land but I'm watching to see if it stays in or disappears over the next few days.

Bit of drizzle around Hobart this morning.
Didn't expect it to be wet.
Will welcome any rain we can get though.

Sadly WL probably remain at mostly drizzle and nothing decent in the gauge. At least it feels better than burning sunshine. smile

Morning all,

20 and climbing steadily, overcast, light winds.

Going to head outside and make the most of the warmer weather while I still can. The cold wet onset of Autumn is just around the corner. Although going on the weather patterns these days anything could happen.

Morning all,
Hobart starts with a funny sort of cloudy overcast coolish 20c. Can't see getting anywhere near 30+ at the moment . Maybe we have missed it ?

It may be a slow burn like we've been getting here, takes all day to get up to the max here at the moment.

I notice it's about 24 there now. So it is heading up. Wind in the NW should build the temp. frown

Just got to 30.9c in town a nip higher out here , actually doesn't feel that bad . We have had days cooler than this but they have seemed hotter , actually a bit of cloud today making all the difference.

Well Hobart topped out at 32.7c at 5:45pm tonight , yuk another putrid night ahead. That will make hole in the averages ? The bad news just keeps coming , 27c now forecast for March 1.
I think March will be another stinker despite the news weatherman saying all the heat is gone. Didn't look far ahead did he. laugh

West Coast sunset, 15 minutes ago. Slight smell of smoke in the air, might account for the vivid colours.

Models swinging a surprise dump of rain our way tomorrow, raining this evening, but 20-50mm on the cards - have hardly had a drop since the Jan downpour so will likely be the only Feb rain.

Compared to 2nd half of Dec and Jan until it rained, Feb has felt very mild and pleasant, despite only 4 days under 25. Still green and growing fast, the rain tomorrow should avoid it drying out again, mornings are cool with heavy dew and today saw the return of fog.

Nice Pic PH.

Wow Pays , one of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen on here . Well done indeed.
Still hanging around 27c @ 11:25 pm here in the Bart , wind is getting up but no cold air in it and just a hot breeze.

P!!!! awfully nice photo ole chap!!

Dan - the models have a very long cigar shape of rain aimed right at ya today!! P should see some too. hope it's the start of more to come.

Have a squiz at GFS and CMC models, they are indicating cooler conditions next week than Access & EC. I'm hoping they are closer to the mark.

H - as long as the warm days are single days, it's better than a run of them. I can't see much chance of any prolonged real heat for you, just a day or so. The clock is ticking, the nights are lengthening, old sol is losing a bit of puff (FINALLY).

Been a late hot Feb all over the joint this year!! 35 here today, 37 tomorrow!! frown It will pass and I shouldn't see those temps again until next Summer I hope. smile

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to moving down there, should be able to move down by early 2018, so for the mean time I'll be just stalking your forum poke

Looks like it was a pretty warm day in Hobart this morning, 10 above average!!
Overnight minimum was 21.5 at 7:28am!

Unfortunately because of the BOM's 9am reset rule, official minimum goes down as 19.7 recorded right on reset at 9am yesterday morning.

One question I have, does everyone in Tassie enjoy having Daylight saving? And how do you cope with daylight until nearly 10pm in summer? Also, does it get annoying having late sunrises right at the end of daylight saving?

I personally love the idea of daylight saving, as our summer nights are dark here in NQ by 7:15pm on standard time. Does it get annoying have daylight so late in summer, or is it really nice?
