G'day Dave! We've got the Suby AWD, so I hope that's enough! Really hope I see some flakes in the air in Blackmans Bay. Fingers crossed. Also, yes. The sat pic looks great! Let's hope the timing is on.

Morning all.

Pretty wild night here. Had one thunderstorm that woke us up, it lasted about 15 minutes. Was very close and very loud. Dogs didn't like it at all!

Ground almost covered in hail when we got up, sleet falling now and wont be long before it is totally white here. Here's hoping... just starting to see some small flakes among the sleet smile

Caught a glimpse of Mount Owen a while ago. A very thick looking blanket of snow down to about 500m.

On another note, here's my August rainfall totals.
August 369.5mm
YTD 1785mm
We are down by 702mm in comparison to the same time last year.

40mm to 8:30am
Sitting on a very chilly 1.5

The rainbands are losing it when they reach the Wellington range from the west. Looks like a dusting to 500m now, nearer to 400m in Collinsvale to the north ( judging by the local webcam there ).

Just had a heavy but brief sleet/wet snow shower here in Launceston at 90m. Stuck to the cold surfaces but obviously melted pretty quickly. Will be interesting to see if any more push through later tonight when it is colder.

Yeah that's spot on yep, snowline was down to about 350-400m around Collinsvale and black hills earlier this afternoon, however was not settling for a long period!

Not much rain about home, staying around the ranges, seems to be struggling with the NNW wind direction pushing everything south.. infact there's blue sky out here at Brighton currently! grin

Current obs from home, 4.4C NNW 15km/h gusting 30km/h. smile

The cloudband crossing the western half now, will be interesting in an hour or two. My partner went to Deloraine in the past hour and it was beginning to snow there, had sleety rain/hail on/off today but just 1.7mm of rain. Temp has gone from about 7 to 2.5.

That change on Thursday (night), looks really nice for the South... low passing close to the SE coast.

Hi all had 1 hr of wet snow between 5.30 and 6.30pm with some settling on the cold timber like the deck and timber on the ground.
Temp went down to 1.4 degrees but back up to 3.2 degrees but the cars and deck are still frozen. Can only think it's the lower humidity ATM as it's about 72%.
A friend at Franklin has 1cm on ground at 200m.
Looks interesting for the rest of the night and early tomorrow.

Would love it if Thursday night happens!

Evening all have a good light cover of white over everything and it's getting heavier!
Temp is 1.3 degrees.
Winds are averaging 19km gusting and 34km hr.
I agree Tony looks good for the overnight period!

Ended up with little settling on the grass but snow dusting in gardens on fences and cars. So at 100 asl it is low. Looks to be settled fully at 200m looking to hills behind franklin

Weatherzone News says mt Wellington's -6.4c was the coldest for September in 22 years. Lived up at Mt Nelson then , near the lookout ( 340m asl ), there was 8cm on the ground then. Good grief 22 years ago...

Is Friday morning still looking good for snow around Hobart? Looks alright to me going by the basic gfs and access models.
