Thanks Things, thought I wasn't all together going cross-eyed from reading these threads for days on end. Stay safe everyone!

Has anyone noticed the string/front of thunderstorms firing up in the centre?? All very interesting that is in part due to the conditions and influences of our systems here; and from Bianca in WA.

Well done Mick 10 for starting this heads up Topic for this potentially devastating TC! I have been watching this one forecast by GFS over a week ago... it originally had Gympie as a potential xing point but has now moved it to a more likely North Qld xing. As others have mentioned this one will be big... both the wind spread and speed along with rainfall totals covering an area up to 750km across!

After being closely involved with the Toowoomba/Lockyer Valley and Brisbane floods My strong advice for people between Cairns and Mackay is : ADVANCED WARNING IS THE KEY

To make use of your day off work tomorrow and prepare for 2 cyclones in 4 days!!!...CONTACT YOUR FRIENDS LET THEM KNOW , If you have older family member consider them staying with you for a few days, stock up on food n fuel, then have a look in your yard, clear drains or downpipes ect, cut down those dangerous looking trees or shrubs (even if you cant get them to the dump), tie down loose items including boats, vans, dog kennels, If you have some timber cut a few braces for windows and buy some duck tape to tape them.

Cheers Jeff.H.

Certainly have noticed it rainwoman. It also marks out the upper circulation beautifully but what is really amazing is the moisture envelope around Australia which I've never seen like this:

I hate to see what the flooding around the fitzroy basin will be. Especially as the dam is still overflowing in Emerald.

Just read Mick 10 1st post on the thread which answers my question. Bit vague this late at night.

I for one don't think it will reach here (Townsville) as a cat 4 or 5.

I have a feeling that it's just too big in diameter to sustain that sort of intensity for so long.

I could of course be 100% wrong.

But then being kissed by a 400+klm wide wet fart of a cat 1 is much more preferable than the same sized cat 4.

Mind you I would like to see at least 1 cat 4 before I croak. may as well be this one then.

Morning Glory. You can respond to Delly's post if you want. We don't know what the level of precipitation will be as yet; or where; but I think we will be OK. We have made it this far.

Jeff i know i have asked this question in the cyclone advice section but a i know of a few people who are wondering the same thing as myself. If the winds have POTENTIAL of being felt 750klms away should people in towns like Emerald ( only 300klms ) from the coast be cleaning our yards and preparing for a possible destructive winds inland as well. I know a lot hangs on the type of land between the cyclone and ourselves but should we all be that little bit careful with this thing possibly being BIG and do cleanups and check stability of our homes. Im asking as i have friends recently been through the floods and moved back home. Now they are wondering with their homes being soggy and on soggy ground should they be worried about winds reaching this far inland.

from the looks of those charts it only looks to be a mid cat2 at the most?

How can EC possibly predict a accurate path when it undercooks the intensities most of the time? Or are they just holding back info from us?

Hi SBT. I would not wish a CAT 4+ on anyone. I will hold on a bit longer for the 48hrs+ period; before I get really concerned. P.S Your previous humourous posts are sooo funny! Keep it coming. lol

No Denise Id be feeling pretty safe at Emerald , as 300km is a fair way inland , and for this next system at this stage your too far south to worry ... the 750km was weather affects such as rain being felt from Capetown down to Mackay smile

Well I have a fair idea what may occur. This is going to be one of the bigger storms of our lifetime and a vast area of Qld will be impacted. I'm aware of the tremendous pain brought onto so many local CQ people with the recent floods and I don't want to add to their fears. With respect, that's why I didn't reply.

Poncho - maybe EC are being cautious. I must admit I have lost a bit of faith in the EC model; but as Inclement W, Matt and others have said; it is a bit far out (time + hrs)to be more accurate at this stage.
