Yeah a few frosts would hit the grass where it hurts, but would knock the tomatoes about. Mind you had a few nights around the 4 and 5 degree mark. it's just so many warm to hot days. The weekend just gone was very warm, dew point alarm went off on Sat morning on the weather station - hit 20.

Had those nights back in Feb, not sure what the lowest this month has been, but not that cold - not yet anyway.

Thanks!

Autumn's arrival marks a wet day in TAS
Tristan Meyers, Wednesday March 16, 2016 - 14:20 EDT
The strongest cold front in about a month will smash Tasmania this Thursday evening and into Friday morning.

Thursday day will be deceivingly warm with in dry, northerly winds - a top of 26 degrees at Queenstown and 28 at Hobart. Cloud will build throughout the day as the northerlies increase, becoming gusty just before a dramatic southwesterly shift in winds on Thursday evening in the west. As the front works its way to Hobart overnight, gales are possible around coastal locations and the ranges.

Although the front will bring cold air, the strength of the winds will keep it warm overnight, particularly in the east. However, all Tasmanians will wake up to a drastically different day, being as much as 10-15 degrees colder. Scotts Peak Dam will be around 17 degrees colder; 29 on Thursday as opposed to a chilly 12 degrees on Friday. Gusty winds will make it feel even colder than what the thermometer reads.

Western parts of the Apple Isle will get drenched with widespread totals in excess of 20mm, with rain coming thick and fast. Rainfall totals will lighten as the rainband progress towards the state's capital, but it could still bring some significant soaking. The rainband itself will move quickly, bringing fast rates of rainfall before tending to isolated showers in the afternoon.

The airmass is so cold with this front that it could bring the first snowfall of autumn on Saturday afternoon. Any snow will probably fall on locations above 1200m behind the rainband.

Conditions should clear up by Sunday, bringing a warm, mostly sunny day. Thankfully, the humidity will be gone, resulting in a crisp, autumn morning.

Hi all and thanks Dave for the exciting news , I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. Work Friday should really good and I hope they let me outside most of the day in the rain and mud. smile
Today rose to around 20c once the sun came out , I think tomorrow may be closer to the magic 30c as it's really clouded over now heavily and that will lock in the warmth overnight.
The heavy rain will time perfectly to test the brand new gutters , downpipes and exterior finishes that we put on the old Tudor palace to upgrade and solve last years leaking walls. cool

Looking like some nice rain around Hobart on Friday morning with that front.

OCF showing 25mm, GFS 20mm and ECMWF 35mm. Should be some good falls. Looks like a big drop in temps down to around 12 by lunchtime.

In the mean time, my forecast would be 28 or 29 for tomorrow.

Hi all

Been making the most of this dry weather and spending it working around the yard.

24 at 5pm, I don't know what maximum we reached, only just thought to check temperature.

No rain for days smile

Cloud slowly starting to build up. Stormy looking sky. Cant wait till our radar comes back on line. NNE winds have been steady at around 20-30kts most of the day, gusting to 40kts.

Wood stacked at back door, fire set. Bring on the cool change. Be happy to sit inside by the fire for a day or so after a busy week outside.

Amazingly interesting weather situation tomorrow in Hobart (for someone like me from North QLD).

Forecast Maximum temperatures are always for between 6am and 9pm.
Forecast Minimum temperatures are always for between 6pm and 9am.

So tomorrow, it's expected to be 18 at 6am, falling to 15 at 9am and then down to 12 in the afternoon.

18 at 6am comes through as the maximum and 15 at 9am comes through as the minimum based on the BOMs temperature forecasting rules. Really cool!

Raining this morning in a fair area of Tassie. Hope it keeps going.

Nice and cool after a very warm day there.

P, about time you let the other parts of the state get a bit of precip, instead of hogging it. grin

Evening all from Drybart , well it was nice to get a nice cool day today. But the rain forecasted and what we actually got basically summed up the problem we have had now for the last 3 years. After much excitement of a forecast of 15 - 35mm just one day ago to a drop in the bucket 5mm all over at 11:00am event was nothing but a great disappointment. As said great to get some cooler weather but the desperately needed rain again went missing in action. Anyway tomorrow hopefully will be around 15c which will be nice if it comes off ?

First time i've actually began to feel cold since September.
Nice to have a cooler day and it seems autumn is in full swing now.

Forecast is for a low of 10 tonight but i think it will dip below into single digits.
