I am an avid scuba diver and was just curious as to who else on here dives, whether it was a one off or a regular thing. Also keen to hear experiences you've had. Best and worst dives? Locations?

I still remember my first dive (or should I say attempted first dive) although I have tried to block it from my memory grin I have a mate who is a PADI instructor and we had tried for ages to get shifts etc lined up so that I could go out diving with him. It all finally fell into place and I convinced my wife to come too. She came but has since told me it was only to shut me up laugh Anyway we got out and both got geared up and into the water where I proceeded to have a panic attack and there was noway in hell I was going underwater blush, she ended up going down but it was purely because I got too scared to, she was at the same point as I was panic wise but her competitive streak came out and she wanted to prove that she could do something that I couldn't. I tried again a few weeks later and had no issues at all. It was bizarre!!

Since then we have both done a heap of diving. My most enjoyable dive to date would have to be the HMAS Brisbane off the Sunshine Coast.

Have been to Vanuatu diving a couple of times and will be heading to Tulamben in Bali later this year and trying to also arrange a trip to Rowley Shoals

Hi Craig

I'm a fairly keen diver but do most of my diving either in Brisbane or North QLD. My favourite spot is Osprey Reef which is about 200km off the coast of Port Douglas.

It is an amazing spot with 2000m drop offs and crystal clear water. Visibility is normally at least 30m and most companies that go there will do either a shark attract or a shark feed.

The other dive that I really want to do that I've heard is a must see is the wreck of the Yongala. I'm not a keen wreck driver but everyone I've spoken with whose done the dive has said it shouldnt be missed.

Haven't dived for over 10 years (last dive was a bit before my eldest was born if that's a hint at an excuse)... But I have dived just about everywhere up & down the East Coast from Eden to FNQ reefs.

I'll ditto the Osprey Reef dive though. Should not be missed (I've been out there twice and once my kids grow up a bit - and I've already got them snorkelling - I may do it again). And I'll throw in Heron Island for pure diving indulgence.

I got my Diving license when I was 14 (1980/81) through Robinson Sports Store in Brisbane. It was a PADI license which I still hold. I only had a couple of months to wait until I was 15 and had an open license.

It was very primitive gear wise. Some of my early dives I never even had a BCD. It was just a wetty, weight built, tank with the old pull reserve (which I would sometimes accidentally engage by brushing past some rocks or coral) and 2 gauges.

The gear has come such a long way these days.

Had some good dives and some pretty shockers. I haven't had a dive for a few years but planning on few in the next couple of years.

Have dived from Cairns to NSW.

Cheers.
