7 local news has never aired live in Cairns, or Townsville for that matter and they don't advertise as such (WIN news is live in Townsville however, pre-recorded for Cairns).

Will certainly be a wet week for FNQ, what an astonishing wet season it has been so far.

both win and 7 news present 6 local bulletins across the state, its impossible for all the markets to air live of course. im not even sure if tville is live anymore RD, they got moved to the toowoomba studio recently. will have to find that out.
in regards to the weather airing incorrectly, sadly i would have to say the studio must have mucked up compiling the bulletin together.

Won't be much rain for Cairns by the looks of it. It has been dissolving on our doorstep for close to a week now! Such a waste to see all that good rainfall out at sea!

But it's topping up the ocean Things grin I am (and I can't believe I'm saying this) over this wet season for the first time ever. I am looking forward to cooler nights and stunning days.

Both of which we missed out on last winter as our lanina gathered a head of steam. 23 degs minimums in July is thankfully a rare occurance but one thing it did do is shatter the farmer's myth that a cold winter means a big wet and a warm one means a dry summer.

I wonder how many of those cane farmers in the Whitsunday region actually realise their myth is now officially busted?

Can someone explain to me why these cells are dissolving at sea? I understand that the cells coming from the west often dissolving over the range - and losing 'puff' so to say. But what is it that makes them lose their puff out at sea? Is it to do with humid / less humid air over Cairns mainland? It has been happening for days now!! I want an anti-puffer!!

Surely THIS one will reach us...joined from Gordonvale to Moore Reef, and appears to be intensifying.

The surface trough to the south of here (near Townsville) has weakened in recent hours allowing the SE winds to resume in our region. On-shore showers should resume overnight into tomorrow but nothing major.

What is this I hear, my goodness rain. I can even smell it it's been so long since we've had any. And it is a heavy drop, must run and close the windows, now that's saying something.
