SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for Flash Flooding
For people in the tropical east coast between Innisfail and Mackay including the
Central Coast and Whitsundays district, Herbert and Lower Burdekin district and
the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands district.

Synoptic Situation: A trough over the western Coral Sea extends onto the
northeast tropical coast of Queensland. A high over the Tasman Sea extends a
firm ridge along the east coast to the south of the trough.
Areas of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are currently being observed on
radar about parts of the tropical coast between about Rollingstone and Mackay.
Heavy rain may develop further north between Innisfail and Rollingstone
overnight.
Heavy rain is likely to lead to flash flooding in these areas.
Rapid river and creek rises are likely to occur in the areas of heaviest
rainfalls. A Flood Warning is also current for coastal rivers and streams
between Cairns and Mackay and the Don River.

Guthalungra on the Don River.
