Drying out here. Early arvo we had some interesting looking clouds that backed up the new forecast of storms, but nothing's happened and the sun is poking through. That might be our lot.

Definitely warmed up a tad Cam, Dp's must be pretty high across the board. Still alot of mid level junky cloud hanging about with a Cu's bordering cb's going up here and there, nothing crash hot looking in this reagion just yet, but that line out west towards orange-mudgee should arrive within the next couple of hours (hopefully on dark) and should bring a few goods with it, preferably some boom crash opera as im itching for a decent night light show as im yet to get one since getting my new camera a few months back. I would count out a little bit of action somewhere in the basin come night fall, hoping for a offshore show later in the night.

Quite a bit of cloud around here, hopefully something does come tonight though. Looks like a storm at Cessnock which is staying put, if only I could chase it frown

Can hear long booms of thunder coming from the storm in Cessnock.it looks black as coal out that area,I am 10kms SW of Cessnock, storm developed on top of me and moved north busting over Cessnock, nothing measured at the Cessnock air port as yet,it is south of there in the town centre by the looks, more active looking storms to my west heading this way should get some action later as well.

Well I have just had the single biggest downpour here that I have ever seen or heard of in 25 years. Already 76.4mm has fallen, but about 66mm fell in just on one hour, peak rate came in at more than 260mm/h, I have cross checked the figures with manual readings and they are spot on.

Check out my website for the details. The yard was awash with rivers, the house shook from the force of the rain, never seen anything like it here in my life. The only bigger downpour I have seen was back in Newcastle in the early 80's.

Very nice!! Line seems to be trying to move into the basin. Who wants to bet some money on its likelihood of falling apart? I start with $20

The line is fairly slow moving, looks like it's bringing a lot of rain. Severe storm warning has been issued.

Touch and go with this line, most likely will die in its backside when it hits the range..Conditions this side have been crappy all afternoon..Im about to head to kurri-cessnock then take it from there the northern edge looks to be lacking moisture but if it picks up punch i'll try get onto it and follow it north for a while, but if it decides so pop over the range might head back to the coast somewhere. I need to get a nightshow fix.

I can not believe my eyes but there is a fair bit of lightning to the SW. It's been a long time since this has happen at night; the question is will it make it to the coast

I'll eat my hat if that line make it to the coast and we get a storm, looks to be weakening already and it's only just started to move off the ranges.

The northern part of the line looks like it's intensifying while the southern part is weakening. Hopefully it makes it to the coast, I'd like a nightshow and I can't drive there, no license (too young - but that will soon change) and my parents won't take me frown

Lots of flashes in the sky and I can hear distant rumbles. Time to dust off my Faraday suit and climb onto the roof!

Radar is starting to look interesting down here with a line of cells offshore of Albion Park moving SW towards us.
Stuff from the NW still isnt making it to the coast, but that might change soon with these cells poping up off the coast.
No sparks in it yet but fingers crossed.

Brilliant storm here in the Lower Blue Mountains. Over 40mm of rain & still raining now. Very long lasting storm.
Lightning hitting the ground all around us & the thunder shook the house.
Street lights are out. Good to finally see some decent rain rather than the mozzie spits we have been having lately.

The RFS website has the following.

Quote:

Flood Damage - Blaxland Not Applicable Great Western Hwy x View Street,Blaxland Blue Mountains Out of Control Flood & Storm 0 Rural Fire Service 11/03 : 09:33PM

Judging by how stationary the cloud band is I'd be surprised if this is the only event the RFS or SES attend tonight in the mountains.
