Drying out here. Early arvo we had some interesting looking clouds that backed up the new forecast of storms, but nothing's happened and the sun is poking through. That might be our lot.

Well I have just had the single biggest downpour here that I have ever seen or heard of in 25 years. Already 76.4mm has fallen, but about 66mm fell in just on one hour, peak rate came in at more than 260mm/h, I have cross checked the figures with manual readings and they are spot on.
Check out my website for the details. The yard was awash with rivers, the house shook from the force of the rain, never seen anything like it here in my life. The only bigger downpour I have seen was back in Newcastle in the early 80's.

I can not believe my eyes but there is a fair bit of lightning to the SW. It's been a long time since this has happen at night; the question is will it make it to the coast

I'll eat my hat if that line make it to the coast and we get a storm, looks to be weakening already and it's only just started to move off the ranges.

Lots of flashes in the sky and I can hear distant rumbles. Time to dust off my Faraday suit and climb onto the roof!

Radar is starting to look interesting down here with a line of cells offshore of Albion Park moving SW towards us. Stuff from the NW still isnt making it to the coast, but that might change soon with these cells poping up off the coast. No sparks in it yet but fingers crossed.

The RFS website has the following. Flood Damage - Blaxland Not Applicable Great Western Hwy x View Street,Blaxland Blue Mountains Out of Control Flood & Storm 0 Rural Fire Service 11/03 : 09:33PM
Judging by how stationary the cloud band is I'd be surprised if this is the only event the RFS or SES attend tonight in the mountains. mick
