If I can get the money together I'll be doing this...even if it means renting for the rest of my life rather than buying a house.

I smoke cancer sticks, but that wouldn't stop me from doing this.

Well worth the money and risks.

Planning on doing some parabolic 'weightless' flights at some point. Much cheaper but hardly as awesome. Commercial vomit commit - http://www.gozerog.com/

NASA can't even afford to send up ships now, I doubt Branson's effort will ever get into orbit, let alone carry paying customers. Then there is Space-X, 80% funded by NASA. basically NASA has privatized it future hopes.

Just look back to the marvel of supersonic flight that was introduced in the 70's. Everyone back then believed it would be the future too but the cost was too great and it became a niche transport like the Segway. Concorde only had one crash, the crash of a jet so old it should have been taken out of service years before. After the crash they scrapped the whole airline, why didn't they just build newer improved ones?

It all comes down to money, to the price of energy basically.

The newspapers and television are full of these dreams but all I ever see are peoples retirement accounts being emptied so bright young marketing wizzes can drive Maseratis.
