Well the rain event did not deliver big rain for everyone.

I just tipped out 28mm from one rain gauge.

So muggy here down here. No breeze. No rain. No storms . Just a breeze of some sort would be nice.

Well we shall see what the supposed Big Wet for the west forcast will bring. I still have my doubts we will get these massive numbers the social media weather experts are talking Up? Time will tell, no flowers yet on the Mock Orange?

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 02/03/2018 09:29

Feels like 34 deg at 8am . No breeze and muggy.

March 8th strong SE winds ... finally . We did get a brief SE wind a few days ago but it went.

Looking at the forecast maps, coastal CQ is again to miss out on the next rain event.

No rain here yet, some light patchy drizzle at best.

I highly doubt it will happen bundybear. I know you have grown webbed feet, but I would not mind another drop of rain.

Because I am such a nice person I hereby donate to you and any one else who wants it all my rain for the next 3 months. grin

I just do not like seeing so many different pictures showing armogeddan for me.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 04/03/2018 22:05

I don't want any rain because our lawn mower is still being repaired , grass is thick. The shop says there are 19 jobs ahead of me so should hopefully get it back this week.

Would like some breeze though. Last several days here have felt quite still . Those SE winds can't come soon enough. The feels like temp hasn't dropped below 28 deg for a few days .

It is raining again today. Just scudding heavy showers.

Weirdly we either get shiploads or nothing.

Same here in Yeppoon mainly overnight and early this morning. Water around the parks.

We go from having next to no wind blowing almost like Rocky for a week to blowing gale force last night.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 08/03/2018 10:40

Had a call from a business colleague based in Melbourne, she asked how I was coping with all the rain & cyclones in Qld recently.

I had to explain that I was in Rockhampton, and that Rockhampton hasnít seen many if any effects of the tropical wet season this year.

Apparently their media outlets down there are suggesting that all of Qld is currently underwater & being battered by multiple category 6 cyclones on all fronts.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 08/03/2018 12:18

Yesterday evening I tossed 20ml out of the gauge. Not sure though if hubby had emptied it recently.

It is dry here today although there were lots of showers last night.

They still haven't finished the Statue Bay landslip part of the highway completely damaged from Marcia. You would think with the lack of extreme events in the past 2 or so years they would be finished soon. They should have started it in 2015 not 2016 . Took a year for funding and what not I think.

It takes me 18mins now to get into Yeppoon and 18 mins back. It is about the same on Tanby Road into Yeppoon.

That is almost in total as much as going one way into Rockhampton !
Especially when people here seem to go 40 km/hr all the way through the 3km detour..

I started doing grocery shopping via online then pickup at Woolies to cut down some of the time travelling.

It's amazing how a small detour can make it feel like we're miles away from town when we're not.Oh and now they have a 40km/hr speed limit near where the new Homemaker centre is going too , so going to have to skip that way too .

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 12/03/2018 10:23

20 deg this morning actually almost felt cold lol.

Humidity is actually bearable on the coast in March which seems odd but pleasant.

One of The Morning Bulletin's article mentions the word "catastrophe" for next week frown

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 16/03/2018 18:24

Today was the only properly sunny day we have had in a fair while. One of the clients I clean for will be happy. He lives entirely on solar so I have done the very basics for the last couple of weeks as I didn't want him to come home to fridges off or such cause I had used too much.

We missed a very black and ominous storm the other day whilst in town. Not sure where it went though. Think it followed the highway north.

Yeah I saw that , the council says they are going to take over the project and have the road fixed hmmm

Looks like some wet weather in about a week.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 19/03/2018 14:06

Very humid today on the coast and in Rockhampton you'd think some sort of rainfall was on its way soon.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 19/03/2018 14:58

A bit to late in the season for rain now Vinnie.
I think it's now going to be dry season weather very soon, and will be no rain till about Oct/Nov. So get ready for some typical CQ drought conditions.

Looks like right on que the proposed cyclone in the Gulf will destroy the chance we have of getting some decent falls in coastal Central Queensland later in the week.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 20/03/2018 15:18

It sucks everything away.

Whenever there is a cyclone somewhere around Australia, it means dry weather for us here, unless it is directly near us.

Autumn Equinox tomorrow... yet GFS going for 38 next Tuesday in Rockhampton. 38 deg .

7mm overnight here, I like the look of the rain coming in off the ocean!

Not a drop here. Seems typical of this year.

I wonder when this now four year ongoing dry period will end?

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 22/03/2018 22:38

Getting very light misty drizzle here. Typical Rocky rain, not enough to do any good, just enough to dampen the topsoil

217.5mm YTD

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 24/03/2018 18:14

We've had 40-50mm from the showers from 2 days back unfortunately it's been only on the exposed coast.

Can't remember so many cloudy days last wet season. Least that, and the cloud is making it feel pleasant.

Still dry as in Dusty ole Rocky.
Looking good for Easter, nice and dry out at the dam as well.
Would like some green grass, but chrunchy brown is how it is in CQ these days.

Yes it is quite amazing how all this rain that has been falling over Queensland, this area has really missed out this summer.

Must be our turn to turn into how the Townsville thread was a couple of months ago.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 26/03/2018 15:52

I was looking at the BOM long term 3 month outlook map thing and Rocky is in the below 50 percent chance of rain thing wheras Yeppoon isn't.

Weatherzone so far says for Yeppoon

Average Rainfall To Mar493.7mm 39.8 Day(s)
Total For 2018 426.6mm 39 Day(s)
Total To This Day 2017 472.6mm33 Day(s)

Rocky is behind more:

ROCKHAMPTON AP YEAR TO DATE
Average Rainfall To Mar 383.3mm 33.7 Day(s)
Total For 2018 218.8mm 24 Day(s)
Total To This Day 2017 320.0mm36 Day(s)

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 26/03/2018 17:01

Looking at Weatherzone charts, looks like a low near here on the weekend ?
Posted by: Vinnie

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 29/03/2018 09:24

Rocky airport only 17 mm this month ? Yeppoon almost 100mm.

And I assume these showers in the next few days will only hit the coast and not go inland?
Posted by: RC

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 29/03/2018 16:21

GFS is adamant that a tiny strip of land from Rockhampton south is not going to get any rain from the next event.

Every run has that little strip down as dark blue, or low rainfall.

Re: Central Queensland Wet Season - March 2018 - 31/03/2018 10:37

All the forecast models increasingly push the rain further and further north.

Simply put CQ except for the exposed coast will get very little to nothing.

All heading to Byfield for some reason.

This time last year , I remember March was very sunny and not much cloud. In the last 10 days I cannot remember apart from 1 day where it was clear all day, a clear sunny day.

More cloud this week too , if it is correct.

Yeah you could use some more. We we actually below average for March but lots of drizzly days kept it green. Well above average for 2017 here.
