Not much happening here for the last couple of hours.
Check out that perfect line of rain between here and Sarina on the bom radar. It stretches from Percy Island out to Eungella. It's been there for ages. Cool😊

Haha I have been watching that all day and it started to dissolve this arvo but has regenerated this evening. There's probably a few hundred mils in that line for those in its path.

Gusts upwards from 57kmh and pressure is dropping at Eimeo Point. Steady but not hard rain for 3 hours. Surf was high around 12:30 and was breaking high on the beach. No obvious erosion damage.

Re: Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - April 2018 - 03/04/2018 15:24

Hamilton plains can't be far off being closed as water now is covering both lanes and the rain rate looks like its about to pick up according to the radar, Crofton creek bridge won't be far behind but harder to tell as the camera is facing down the road for some strange reason, Pretty soon Airlie\Cannonvale will be cut off I think.

Re: Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - April 2018 - 03/04/2018 18:01

Big difference from this mornings 10am bom track map and this afternoon's 4pm track map in that it has Iris much further south before turning back to the north.
10am map turned in line with Townsville on Thursday.
4pm turns in line south of Prossy on Thursday.

I'm sure there'll be a few more twists and turns between now and then. Just my obs.

She is crazy tricky.

Steady drizzle in Mackay now, wind has died down a bit though in comparison to 9pm, and just 9mm of rain since 9am. That solid banding has been hanging just off the coast for most of the day. Hopefully tomorrow brings little more for us!

Re: Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - April 2018 - 04/04/2018 09:08

rain has subside now to wind driven drizzle, still getting some really strong gusts through Prossy atm. \lot better outcome compared to twelve months ago. No staying in a hotel for bloody 4 months..lol

Re: Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - April 2018 - 04/04/2018 09:15

Yeah, looks like Iris has sucked in too much dry air now, but we got our best rain for the wet season from her.

Rain since mid-night: 18mm
Yesterday: 101mm
Event: 286mm

Re: Central Coast & Whitsundays Wet Season - April 2018 - 04/04/2018 09:26

R.R we still could see more on the return journey i think, even just as a low Iris could dump another 100 to 200 mls will be interesting to see if that happens

Happy that the rain seems to have cleared, yard is so mushy and all the concrete is turning black, will need to chlorine and pressure wash it asap! any chance of some cooler and hopefully drier air coming soon? in past years the weather has sometimes started to cool in April.. but some years late may..
