Weatherzone Silver Issues - 12/01/2004 14:45

Are there problems at the moment?

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 12/01/2004 15:59

Paul the Berrimah radar isn`t working.

It started playing up when the humidity increased and rain started falling. Should be back ok once the rain stops and the sun comes out again. :p frown  wink

Well that's lovely for you people there.... but for us common people who pay $5 per month, it is still showing 11:58CST. If I could post blasted images on here I would give you a screen capture.

wink mad

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 12/01/2004 16:10

Why can't you Paul? Select the "print screen" key next to "stroll lock" up the top center of the keyboard? Unless you then can't host the image to put it online?

Whats wrong with the Darwin AP radar? It indicates the precipitation in the same way, doesn't it? wink

I don't have a "stroll lock" on my keyboard wink .

I can't post the images as I cannot acces my website via FTP as I am behind a rather aggressive firewall wink .

Now if I was at home, Mr Cloudmaster, you would see the image and understand my frustrations....

BTW why are you at TWC???

Never you mind Mr Mossman! I do understand your fustrations, but just letting you know that the Darwin AP radar is working (as you probably knew) and the Darwin radar seems to be A.OK here. I'll let you know if I hear anything. smile

Well, the 3 shades of green and the busy background are a bit of a worry , now that you mention it. :p

Cloudy, are you in there running the show today? Wow, you have come a long way in a short time.

Now now, cumulis humilis, no need for sarcasm. Indeed, Darwin AP radar would have ben an option, but alas, it too only had 11:58CST timestamp.

However, it now shows 13:40CST, but, seeing as that is over 1 hour ago, is as useful as an image timestamped 11:58CST considering it is now 15:00CST wink .

Perhaps while your at TWC, they could teach you some useful tips regarding customer service. Sarcasm to paying customers, ain't the most appropriate tool to use wink .

It was mere humour Paul, not bad customer relations. Just informing you that the Darwin radar is now updated! smile

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 12/01/2004 16:36

Looks very juicy too.

Let`s just hope the radar doesn`t get a fright when it sees what`s on the way and spits the dummy again.

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 12/01/2004 16:36

Well, surprisngly, even after being told that there was no problem, whatever it was fixed wink and radar is now working.

A good way to check these things is to load the radar loop. I did load the radar loop - and - it goes from 11:58CST to 14:45CST.

Perhaps there was a problem wink

Anyway good to see it back - now bring on those storms.

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 13/01/2004 16:15

I'm afraid that I have to agree with PaulM...

Since Weatherzone Silver has come online, I'm having frequent issues with the refreshing of maps. For example, on the homepage, one is presented with a map of Australia. The timestamp for the image is Monday at 13:14 EDT (It's Tuesday 16:11 EDT at the moment), which just happens to be the first time this week, that I accessed Weatherzone.

If I select the NSW lightening tracker, I'm presented with an image from Tuesday 11:30 EDT, again, the first time this week that I accessed that link.

No amount of clearing caches, forcibly refreshing the page, or anything will get me more recent images.

Is anyone having the same problem?

Re: Weatherzone Silver Issues - 13/01/2004 17:23

I just went to the NSW Lightning Tracker and the image is 1700EDT (as it should be). I also went to the Sydney radar and noted that the 1710 image updated on Weatherzone 4 minutes earlier than it updated on the Bureau of Met site. So everything certainly appears to be running smoothly.

Our mets use the site all day every day and if it's not updating they are usually the first to complain. There should be no difference between internal and external access because it's either on the site or it ain't. My own observations using the site from home is that it's much better since Silver went online. I can't explain why some people are seeing updating issues because I have seen very few. It all points to a cause that lies between our server the the user's browser/ Unfortunately this is a very uncontrollable space.

My apologies... You are correct. There are some caching issues with my service provider. Switching providers resolves the issue.

Sorry again for my allegations!

Damn i thought i was the first to complain. laugh

I haven`t had any problems with updates with lightning, radar ect... I do get a slow down but that when there is a lot of weather plus my ISP could be busy as well.
