[Can't see the] Wood for the trees implies one is not able to get a general or overall understanding of a situation because one is too focussed, worried or caught up on the details. This can also come from making unfounded or unchecked assumptions about a situation, which have no or little evidence base – one does not ask appropriate or pertinent questions, or ask question at all... thus leading to distortions in what would have otherwise been a reasonable perspective on the situation.

The logical consequence can be non-sequiturs, which are logical fallacies of reasoning where the conclusions drawn are inaccurate, thus becoming misinformation, or worse, concocted if things are not resolved. All it takes is not asking a reasonable and relevant question, knowing what a reasonable and relevant question is, without getting personal. Resolving things will also not happen without, to some degree, acknowledging and dealing with mistakes made. This applies to all situations, including online.

While there is no timeframe for this stuff, it is nonetheless...relevant in the modern day and age. If nothing else, those of us contributing online can perhaps consider what constitutes a logical fallacy. Understanding these does not have to be perfect, if there was such a state, but it is the intent that matters.

A description of what each letter means in the acronym. I am wondering whether it is reasonable to discuss the breadth of the acronym - to find insight smile and bring about new understanding as to what it means, and what it doesn't.

I am asking because I can't find anywhere on this forum where it has been discussed in this manner, and I think it is a reasonable (if not core) social topic. I don't have all the answers either.

Probably because (a) it's quite personal and (b) because it's quite fluid apparently and also based on attraction, which is also a very subjective matter.

Gay - Generally refers to a male who is physically, emotionally and/or spiritually attracted to other males. May also refer to females who are attracted to other females, as well as the gay community in general.
Lesbian - A female who is physically, emotionally and/or spiritually attracted to other females.
Bisexual - A person who is physically, emotionally and/or spiritually attracted to persons of the same or opposite sex.

Transgender - A person whose gender identity is different from his or her anatomical sex may (or may not) elect to undergo chemical and/or surgical alteration. Transsexual generally are people who undergo the surgical process.

Intersex - Person born with mixed sexual physiology; a sex is often “assigned” at birth, though this practice is under attack as violating one’s well-being.

Questioning - well self explanatory

But this doesn't include asexual people either.

The last one is Queer not Questioning, basically a catch all for the other 53 Alphabet letters or combinations that allow one to identify as whatever they like based upon which side of who's bed they got out of that day or what they had for dinner the night before. It's a bit like intersex but is much more fluid than just choosing between a gender or sexual orientation for the day week or whatever as you can become a chair or Horse even if you feel like it when your Queer.
