Looks to be some record breaking heat coming up on Monday and Tuesday for Southwest US - with 850hpa temps hovering around 35C places such as Phoenix and Las Vegas could break their all time records with Phoenix forecast for 121F, Las Vegas 117F on Tuesday. Death Valley also forecast at 129F on Tuesday which would equal their all-time hottest reliably recorded temperature!

Phoenix currently 119F and Las Vegas 115F, both only 3 F off their all-time records! Needles on 125F (52C) at 2pm, pretty impressive considering it's 300m above sea-level!

Interesting that Badwater in Death Valley currently sits at 129F though it isn't recognized anywhere as an official temperature by the looks of it, only Furnace Creek Visitor Centre is recognized...

Hello Folks:

The Wikipedia article about Needles, California lists their elevation at 495FT/150.9M ASL.
The highest official temperature there has been 125F/51.66C reached on July 17, 2005, June 20, 2016 & June 19, 2017.

As an interesting aside: On August 13, 2012, Needles experienced a thunderstorm that deposited rain at a temperature of 115F/46.1C starting at 3:56PM, setting a new record for the hottest rain in world history. The air temperature was 118F/47.7C, tying Needles' record high for the date. Since the humidity was only 11%, the rain evaporated so that "only a trace was recorded in the rain gauge." Weather records researcher Maximiliano Herrera reported that this was the lowest humidity at which rain has occurred on Earth in recorded history.

Kind Wishes & Take Care~~~Wet Snow
P.S. Looks like my area may cop some rain from this Tropical System (now Tropical Cyclone Cindy).
