I arrived on the summit of Mt Lofty at around 3pm Tuesday 18th. It was raining from the Tollgate all the way up to the summit. Somewhere between the freeway and the television towers (if I remember correctly) I started seeing heaps of hail by the side of the road where running water had deposited it at some earlier time during the day I don't know when. At the summit car park it was raining and continued raining for about ten to fifteen minutes ranging from light to heavy, sometimes with some small hail. When it stopped raining I went to the summit's paved lookout area which was more or less free of hail (reported by two visitors as more or less covered with hail earlier) and then down along a walking trail into the woodland or forest and took some photos. A very pretty scene it was too. I left the summit to return to the plain below, around 650pm after another substantial period of rain this time without seeing any hail falling at all. Throughout my stay on the summit I didn't see even one icy flake of any kind fall.

The operative word in their forecast is "chance". "Chance of a storm" means a storm may or may not happen. A storm didn't happen, so their forecast was correct. They're basically hedging their bets when they make a forecast like that.
