Reached a top of only 14.8C here in Belgrave today, it certainly felt cold and dank despite the absence of wind. eek

Showers began arriving around late-morning; they were sporadic and light at first, but became more frequent and heavier as time wore on.

Then the heavens oped up just after 2pm and it poured with rain for around 30 minutes! But that was just the beginning. It got incredibly dark around 3:30pm, and then a sudden thunderstorm let lose, dumping yet more torrential rain!! =D

I didn't see any lightning, but I heard a few rumbles of thunder, and we had a brief burst of small hail. smile

The storm cleared around 4pm, but more showers (locally heavy) swept in behind it well into the evening. I did catch a few glimpse of blue sky, but otherwise it's been overcast all day; a fair bit of low cloud around the place too.

My peak rainfall rate today was 25.9mm/hr, which occurred during the height of this afternoon's surprise thunderstorm. But not as much rain as I was expecting, only 9.5mm so far; nearby Scoresby and Ferny Creek collected around 25mm and 20mm respectively. poke

But hopefully we can collect more rain overnight; more showers are heading our way! smile

Currently around 10C.

Light rain for some hours to 0100 and later, sapped the confidence a little for some decent rain, radar had some promise earlier but it wasn't delivered pre midnight, ie 1.5mm.
Half expected it to veer off to the south but getting up early this morning see the verandahs are wet to the walls and we have had some wild windy action, didn't hear a thing !!

Happy with 9.5mm, the bulk of which felled between 0330hrs & 0500hrs (using Moornapa obs. as a guide) with a 3hr fall rate of approx 16mm - ACCESS was on the $$ for that modelling.

Looking at BOM Obs further east, MtNowaNowa had a fall rate round 20mm/3hr, good rain !

Still some good rain eastern suburbs, might get a bit more today grin

I see temps -3/-2 and 26/32mm precip up the Buller/Falls Ck last night - if that was all snow, wow!

Looked like 10mm or so at home this morning, the Latrobe is only 10" below the bank tops at Rosedale before. A flush for the Lakes on its way.

Getting very wet in Latrobe Valley now, plenty of paddock runoff at around Loy Yang.

Some nice showers coming thru here, looking at models it appears a low S/E of Tassie is spinning them up here, not an ECL situation but working for us at the mo".

Just my guess, any comment invited..thanks grin

Overnight low of 5.7C, currently around 10C and mostly cloudy.

Collected an additional 9.5mm of rain during the night; the rain was heavy at times, and it was quite windy too! smile

All up, 19mm for Belgrave for the past 24 hours. Scoresby, Ferny Creek, and Coldstream each collected 36.6mm, 41.4mm, and 19.8mm respective.

Emptied out 12.5mm from our overnight/early morning rain, highest daily total for a month, so much appreciated.

Lake Glenmaggie at 77% full and rising at a typically large rate for this time of the year = a month (at least) of run of the river here at Maffra (and hence Gippy Lakes), when they start spilling, presumably even from this Monday, to keep a buffer from a rain event on very significant snow level up top.

Reached a top of 14.4C here in Belgrave today. Mostly sunny (except for a few light showers up until mid-afternoon), but the wind was very unpleasant! eek

A cold night coming up, currently around 6C, could easily drop to around 2C. Nice to be indoors, and looking forward to some much milder weather starting tomorrow! grin

Finished with yesterday mornings showers included, 11.5mm grin

Today is a cool start, no frost, lots of sunny blue sky with quite a bit less snow on the high country compared to the last pic. posted.

11.5mm - almost a deluge and will have cracked 200mm for the year, 3 or 4 inches would get things moving towards a better Spring.

Avoided the predicted frost here too. After a fine sunny 19C day here, I got home to find 0.25mm in the gauge from a last gasp effort or two last evening.

The switch has been turned on for the N Gippy dairy farmers, all pastures from Loy Yang to Maffra have grown amazingly today, ...only compared to yesterday afternoon! The moisture is only 1" deep, but with no mud/cattle plugging impediment, the grass dosent give a sh&t, enough moisture and sunshine to grow, and thats what's happening despite only 11C at 10cm soil temp.

....anyone game enough to predict a storm with tomorrow evenings frontal change out this way tomorrow evening???

Nah, you're the only one knows about that storm P.

Some cold air pushing north/east hits warm air travelling S/S/E, does that cause thunderstorms P. ? , but its mainly say Tibooburra down to Yarrawonga, just guessing and hoping for theory/logic for the possible storm.

Reached a delightfully warm, mostly sunny 21.2C here in Belgrave today. The breeze felt a little coolish, and there was plenty of high cloud sailing overhead from the west/northwest throughout the afternoon, but otherwise it was a beautiful spring day! smile

Pity in typical spring/autumn fashion it cooled down sharply as soon as the sun vanished, but at least it's a much milder night that last night 12C.

It's been getting quite windy over the past couple of hours, and we briefly lost power around 9pm! poke
