Keyword trying. I find the tighter the grip that a dry pattern has on us the harder it is for the models to be able to predict a break to it. They will continuously throw up phantom rain events at the end of their runs only to disappear days later.

If they keep on trying, it may come off one day.

Agree. But also preferably light rain building up to heavy rain to allow ground cover to re establish. Heavy rain straight after a long dry is not good for erosion

EC on Windy got a sniff of moisture about it in 5 to 10 days time. Long time to hold one's breath.

I've been watching these sunsets of late and the sky color after sunset. To me it has 1995 written all over it. My thoughts for the next 6 months is dry dry dry - might just have to accept it. Can't see any improvements comming from anywhere. But look at the sky color after sunset and it has a all over brightness that suggest a very dry atmosphere ( More than usual)Probably more hard particles up there floating around. 1995 was a classic for this and we had i think it was mt pinituboe or whatever it was called goin off.

Yes I remember that in 1995 also, then there was a substantial ECL in early May 1996.

Meanwhile in complete contrast here in Melbourne where real weather happens, Iím eagerly awaiting the powerful front to sweep across overnight tonight with followed by lots of showers, local thunder, windy conditions, small hail and snow on the nearby hills.

1st image via Weatherzone. Beautiful speckled cold air field behind it.

2nd image was the view flying over parched smokey eastern central NSW this afternoon near Gunnedah

GFS and EC have been hinting at potential rain naer the end of their forecast periods. But that far out has disappointed many times in the past..... I will get a smile if still shows on +72hr forecast late next week.

In the meantime more dry conditions.
Noted that Amberley rel Humidiity got down to 7% at 1:30pm today.
Are there extreme low humidity records available somewhere ? Can't go much lower than that surely. Could even be worthy of a "extreme low humidity" event thread cos this event nothingness period now over three months has to break sometime.
