Does not feel like storms, but interestingly a storm croton has popped up in my lawn while there has been no rain for the last fortnight.

It won't be your classic thunderstorm setup with hot northerly winds and severe cells steered in from the west so it won't feel like storm days.... more like some possible thunder with a few of the beefier onshore showers on some of the days.
Many people will miss out on the thunder.

Anywhere will be very lucky to hear a rumble of thunder in the next 5 days if you ask me. Absolutely does not warrant the usage of the 'T-Storm' word. They should just call it for what it is - a few showers with (just to cover their a$$e$) the slight chance of local thunder. It really shouldn't be that difficult.

At no point has it ever made land fall though. I can't see it being as strong as NAVGEM suggests or as close and the timing would have to be absolutely perfect for it even to approach anyway.

Cat 3 just off the coast of brissy.... tell him he's dreamin'! grin Mind you AccessG and EC are interested in half decent falls over SEQ in the first few days of Feb though. Would be nice, we are back to near drought conditions here, tanks still largely full from late Dec rain but everything else is withered and dried to a crisp, high evap rates from the hot, sunny days not helping either. Fingers, toes, just about everything else crossed for some rain!

Geoscience Australia has said residents living in areas between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour will continue to experience earthquakes and should take the opportunity to educate themselves on earthquake safety.

At 3.30pm January 23 there were 10 earthquakes recorded since January 19 ranging between 2.0 and 3.1 in magnitude. Towns right along the Mid North Coast are being affected by the tremors including South West Rocks, Stuarts Point, Dorrigo, Armidale, Hat Head, Eungai and Macksville.

Nice weather for the holidaymakers. Perhaps a few millimetres or so out of the onshore flow later this week, just to change things up from the fine weather over the past week and a half.

The thing that is different with this setup is, the high in the tasman is now giving us a easterly feed, previous high's were giving us a more northerly air feed, so i'm unsure as to why the shape of the high has changed compared to previous highs.

That High over the Tasman and New Zealand is becoming a permanent feature. I'm sick of the sight of it.Things might get interesting next week though if that Coral Sea low shifts west and almagamates with aninland low.Hope it comes off.
