At Manilla, NSW, the ongoing drought is in the first percentile ("extreme drought") for durations of 12 months, 15 months, 18 months and 24 months. I have put a coloured contour graph to show the situation in the NSW forum.
Despite the drought, the October rainfall of 51.6 mm was just below average (58 mm), the sky was cloudy, the dew point high, and the daily temperature range was narrow. It was not dry like October 2012, when there was no drought at all.

My blog post for October weather is: https://climatebysurly.com/2018/11/04/moist-october-2018/
